The legislative amendment, which will enter into force on June 13, increases the purchase price of real estate from $ 250 thousand USD to $ 400 thousand USD, which allows foreigners to obtain the right to citizenship. The condition to buy real estate for foreigners to get Turkish citizenship for a higher price was reduced to US$ 250,000 over time, causing intense discussions. According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), the foreign citizens who bought the highest number of houses in Turkey in 2021 were Iranians, Iraqis, Russians, Afghans and Germans, respectively.

In addition, it is necessary to obtain documents from a notary regarding the fact that the transfer and abandonment cannot be made for 3 years. If it is determined by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change that the conditions have been met, the applicants will be able to obtain Turkish citizenship by the decision of the President.
