Professionals in Turkey’s tourism sector note that even the Thomas Cook crisis have not prevented the increase in tourism sector of Antalya.
It is a known fact that Thomas Cook has been one of the few giant companies operating in the tourism sector globally. The difficult situation this company has had to face had a major impact on the global market and many business partners were reported to feel the impact quite badly.
However, Turkey which is destined to break new records in tourism this year does not seem to have felt the impact as strongly. In fact, professionals in the sector have made following comments:
“September is known to be the most beautiful time of Antalya with weak business. Although September is over now, tourism sector is climbing and indeed despite the Thomas Cook bankruptcy crisis. In September this year, 2.184.130 tourists came to Antalya. This number was the highest number of tourists to date in September''.
On the other hand it is good to see that the booking flow in October is also very satisfactory. The good weather was reflected in the season immediately. Even in October, the weather is 30 degrees. For this reason, October occupations are expected to be quite good.
Although these occupations may have to do with price index to a certain extent, achieving these figures is nevertheless a great success. The increase in demand may cause prices to increase slightly, as well. Despite the bankruptcy of a world giant it is a great success for the sector to reach these fullness figures in September and October.
Experts also note that the peace operation on the Syrian soil is 1200 kilometers away from Antalya and has had no negative effect on tourism.
