Istanbul which is considered to be one of the most important metropolis in the world has a very important and unique feature that no other city has: it is the only city in the world that connects two continents: Asia and Europe.
Founded on seven hills mainly, Istanbul has particularly grown into a giant city in the last decades. Thanks to its historical treasures, this city which served as the capital of the 3 greatest empires in the history of the world, offers beauties that are not destined to any other city in the world.
For this reason, it has enjoyed a very intense tourist trend in recent years in particular and is expected to set new records this year, as well.
Experts in the tourism sector have noted following regarding the issue: “Our expectation is that the number of tourists visiting Istanbul may exceed its population for the first time in its history. If this happens, it may also be a psychological threshold. Based on current data obtained so far, we expect 15.5 million tourists to visit this city in 2019”.
Same experts also point out that hotel occupancy rates have increased in Istanbul and add, “The rate of return of Western tourists has increased. There is a 27 percent increase in hotel unit prices in Istanbul, in terms of foreign currency. Occupancy rates have reached 87 percent. Our expectation is that the number of tourists visiting Istanbul will exceed its population for the first time in its history.
Furthermore, it is emphasized that the rapid commissioning of Istanbul Finance Center will be a milestone for Istanbul, as well.
