US Company Amazon has big plans for Turkey. The e-commerce giant that has prepared a 7-year road map for investment in Turkey has already realized millions of dollars of investment in its first year in this country.
Amazon.com.tr started exporting to Europe beginning of June 2019. That means Turkish SMEs can sell their products in dozens of categories from home appliances to electronics to individual customers in 28 European countries.
Thus, Amazon targets to turn Turkey's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into e-commerce exporters.
Now, Amazon.com.tr will provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Turkey with e-export training in cooperation with Turkey’s Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) and Bogazici University.
Training seminars which will be held at chambers of commerce and industry affiliated to TOBB are to be delivered by Boğaziçi University Lifelong Education Center experts. Thus, the program targets to reach 2 thousand SMEs in Turkey’s 20 provinces via 40 training seminars. This way Turkey’s SMEs will win and the business potential of the country will increase.
On the other hand it is apparent that this cooperation with Amazon has drawn attention in the world and many parties are observed to be following closely which means referred model can become widespread in the world.
The key point here is Turkey’s SMEs are successful in design and production, but it turns out to be more difficult when it comes to distribution. As SMEs in Turkey have considerable importance, Amazon will use its strength in distribution in Europe and contribute to the success of the program.
Those who want to sell through Amazon will be included in the program. It is already possible for SMEs to register and register with Amazon. Knowledge, experience and confidence are expected to increase when SMEs attend the training.
