It is reported that Antalya which is the city hosting the highest number of tourists in Turkey also has the maximum number of beds available for the tourism industry.
As reported by experts 42 percent of 1 million 200 thousand beds available in Turkey’s tourism are in this beautiful city on the Turkish Mediterranean coast.
Antalya hosted a total number of 13 million 591 thousand tourists last year with its two airports and transfer visitors. On the other hand it also welcomed an additional number of approximately 52 thousand tourists visiting ports in some districts of the city, on cruise tours.
While the number of tourists in 2018 increased by 30 percent compared to 2017, the number of foreign tourists targeted in 2019 was announced as 16 million.
In fact, in the first four months of 2019, 1 million 560 thousand 862 tourists came to the city corresponding to 32 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to data provided by Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, Antalya which has extremely high quality and new tourism facilities is also the city in Turkey with the highest number of hotels. The number of total accommodation facilities certified by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Antalya was announced as 889. Among these facilities 407 are 5 star hotels and holiday villages. 208 facilities provide “4 star” accommodation whereas 120 others have 3 stars only.
According to the number of beds in districts of Antalya, MANAVGAT ranks top of the list with 183 thousand 706 beds in 529 hotels followed by ALANYA with 167 thousand 235 beds in 575 hotels.
It is quite clear with all the potential and energy it possesses Antalya region will continue to be the tourism capital of Turkey in the coming years as well.
