NEWS Pegasus Launches Flights from Istanbul to Edinburgh

1 Jul 2024

Pegasus Airlines started flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (ISG) to Edinburgh (EDI), the capital of Scotland, on June 27. The flights will be operated twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. Starting from the last week of July, the frequency of the flights is expected to increase to four times a week.

This new route marks the 7th international route Pegasus Airlines has launched in 2024. Prior to this, new routes were opened to Zagreb (ZAG) in Croatia, Sphinx (SPX) in Egypt, Aktau (SCO) in Kazakhstan, Sofia (SOF) in Bulgaria, Chișinău (RMO) in Moldova, and Bratislava (BTS) in Slovakia.

With this development, Sabiha Gökçen Airport now connects to a total of 164 destinations, including 40 domestic and 124 international routes across 54 countries.

“The United Kingdom is Always Among the Top 5 Countries in Terms of Passenger Numbers”

Regarding the new route, the CEO of ISG shared the following: “The United Kingdom has always been among the top 5 countries in terms of passenger numbers for Sabiha Gökçen. The two countries have strong historical ties, economic relationships, and significant tourism partnerships. Last year, Turkey hosted approximately 4 million tourists from the United Kingdom. Our trade volume with the United Kingdom, Turkey’s fourth-largest export market, reached $19.5 billion in 2023. We expect this route to strengthen the already warm relations further, increase cooperation opportunities, and bring an additional 21,000 international passengers to our airport for the remainder of the year.”
