The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, met with the UK's Energy Security and Net Zero Minister, Ed Miliband, in London. Bayraktar and Miliband signed a memorandum of understanding on the topic of the "Energy and Climate Dialogue."
Minister Bayraktar arrived in the UK for official meetings. During his visit to London, he met with UK Energy Security and Net Zero Minister Ed Miliband. Bayraktar shared on social media, "We continue to sign investments and agreements that will position our country as a central hub in energy in a planned and determined manner. We signed a memorandum of understanding on the 'Energy and Climate Dialogue' covering important areas such as the transition to clean energy, low-carbon hydrogen economy, grid modernization, regional interconnections, and small modular reactors with Minister Ed Miliband. I hope this agreement, which adds a new step towards our energy security and independence, will be beneficial to both countries."
Minister Meets with Leading Energy and Financial Investors
While in London, Bayraktar also met with leading energy and financial investors in the UK. He stated on social media, "In this special meeting moderated by JP Morgan, Turkey's potential, achieved through structural reforms and strategic, historic investments, was highly praised. The attention shown and the pragmatic approach further confirm that we are on the right track."
Discussions on Financing Opportunities for Energy Projects
Additionally, Minister Bayraktar held a meeting with senior managers from UK Export Finance, the UK's export credit financing agency, to discuss financing opportunities for energy projects between the two countries. As part of his program, Bayraktar also met with Gordon Birrell, Vice President of Production and Operations at BP, and Tümkan Işıltan, BP Turkey's Country President, to review existing collaborations and new projects.
