RESULTS FROM TURKISH AIRLINES MAKE COMPETITORS ENVIOUS
In its report, Le Monde stated, "In April, Turkish Airlines announced results that make its competitors envious. While IAG, the parent company of Europe's most profitable airline, British Airways, achieved a net profit of 2.43 billion euros, Turkish Airlines achieved a net profit of 5.52 billion euros. Its revenue reached 20.94 billion euros, and its net profit margin was 28.8%."
Le Monde continued: "The jewel of the Turkish economy has surpassed Lufthansa in terms of flight numbers, becoming the leading airline. The results are clearly visible to everyone. The company's traded shares rose by 16% in currency terms in 2023, surpassing the entire stock market."
"THY BECAME AN IMPORTANT PLAYER IN THE GLOBAL AVIATION SECTOR"
The French publication noted that Turkish Airlines had purchased 220 aircraft from Airbus in December and wrote that Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board, Ahmet Bolat, had announced ongoing negotiations with Airbus and Boeing to purchase an additional 235 aircraft.
Le Monde concluded its report: "In other words, Turkish Airlines, founded in 1933 and long seen as a second-tier airline, has become an important player in the global aviation sector and positioned itself as a significant competitor to major European and Gulf airlines. This is the result of an effective development strategy implemented with the uninterrupted support of the ruling government."
