NEWS Turkey to welcome film producers from India to attract 2 million tourists from this country

Turkey searching every possible means to increase its foreign revenues will now be in expectation of increased tourism revenues provided films to be made in Turkey by Indian producers help to attract 2 million tourists from India.

Indian producers who shoot 200 films abroad every year are expected to come to Turkey this time, to film. Turkey’s target is to attract 2 million tourists to Turkey from India, which has a potential of 2.1 billion cinemagoers.

Indians come to Turkey to film. Boollywood producers who will come to Turkey on 16th of November will find 3 places in Istanbul, 1 day in Cappadocia and 2 days in Göcek, where there will be 15 people including producers, screenwriters and actors. The Indian producers are convinced by the Glorious DMC Tourism Agency and its partner Novel Events in India.

Bollywood Producers who are expected to come to Turkey with a group of 15 Indians to include producers, screenwriters and actors will stay in Istanbul (3 days), Cappadocia and Göcek to look for suitable spots for filming. It is reported that the Indian producers were convinced by the Glorious DMC Tourism Agency and its partner Novel Events in India.

It is reported that that India is in the second place in the world after China with 2.1 billion cinema audiences and every year, 1500-2000 films in 20 different languages are produced, 200 films to be made abroad. Thus, provided Indian movie producers find Turkey appropriate it could make a serious contribution to Turkey’s economy. Referred film to be shot in Turkey is reported to have a budget of USD 2 million and negotiations for another project with US$ 20 million are continuing.

Based on previous experience in various countries it is observed that Indian films make a significant contribution to the tourism sector. For example the film with title “LIFE OF PI” shot in Taiwan increased the tourist flow to Taiwan by 43 percent. The number of Indian tourists to Singapore went up from six to seven million a year after the film, KRRISH, shot in Singapore, showed up. The number of Indian tourists to Spain increased by 65 percent after Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara filmed in Spain was at theatres.

In 2023, Turkey plans to attract 2 million tourists from India, which sends abroad 22 million tourists annually. This initiative is expected to play an important role to achieve Turkey’s target as Indian tourists like to go to countries where their movie stars were.
