The European Olympic Committee (EOC) has decided that Istanbul will host the continent's largest Olympic event, which takes place every four years, in 2027.
The European Olympic Committees announced that the fourth edition of the European Games will take place in Istanbul in 2027. EOC President Spyros Capralos expressed his happiness in approving Istanbul's hosting, stating, "This is great news for both European athletes and the city. We know that Istanbul will be a perfect place for Europe's best athletes to shine in 2027."

Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu shared the excitement, saying, "Today, we are experiencing the joy of a historic day for our sport, our Istanbul, and our country." Regarding Istanbul's hosting of the 2027 European Games, he added, "Today, we are here in the historic Saraçhane building, the home of 16 million people, to announce the great news of bringing a prestigious sports organization to the world's most beautiful city.

The European Games were previously hosted by Baku in 2015, Minsk in 2019, and Krakow in 2023.
