Although home sales decreased by 29 percent compared to the month of last year due to the base effect, sales figures doubled compared to the previous month and rose from 59 thousand to 134 thousand units.
Home sales across Turkey fell 29.1 percent year-on-year in June, but more than doubled compared to the previous month. Sales figure of 59 thousand units in May went up to 134 thousand 731 in June 2021.
Sales had exceeded 100,000 units in March and were recorded ar 95 thousand units in April. However in May 2021 this figure was found to be 59 thousand – the lowest level in a year - only due to the effect of the full closure to control the epidemic.
Istanbul, top of the list again.
In housing sales, Istanbul had the highest share with 25,833 housing sales and 19.2 percent. According to the sales numbers, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 13 thousand 401 house sales and 9.9 percent share, Izmir with 7 thousand 522 house sales and 5.6 percent share.
The provinces with the least number of housing sales were Hakkari with 12 houses, Ardahan with 32 houses and Bayburt with 64 houses, respectively.
Home sales with mortgage increased by 3 fold on month-on-month.
In June, mortgage home sales across Turkey decreased by 71.5 percent, compared to the same month of the previous year and became 28,878. Mortgage sales increased by 3 fold, compared to the previous month, showing a strong increase. The share of mortgage sales in total home sales was 21.4 percent. In mortgage sales, Istanbul ranked first with 6,217 housing sales and a share of 21.5 percent.
House sales figure (first sales) in May was 18,000 and this figure doubled in June 2021. In total home sales, the share of the first sale was 29.8 percent. Istanbul had the highest share with 6,772 units and 16.9 percent, while Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 2,647 sales and Izmir with 2,128 sales.
