Continuing its rapid development, Istanbul, one of the world's most important and attractive metropolises, continues to attract great interest from foreigners. In recent years, the metropolitan municipality has been making significant investments to improve transportation facilities in the city, whose population has been rapidly increasing.
One of Istanbul's biggest problems is transportation. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is making great efforts to solve this issue. The construction of six new lines totalling 80.5 km in length continues within this scope.
With 10 metro construction projects, Istanbul has become the city that simultaneously builds the most metro lines in the world. The total length of completed and ongoing lines equals crossing the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge 49 times. The list of metros constructed and planned with the IMM budget during this period:

Including a new line that the Ministry will complete and transfer to the IMM (Municipality); its budget will be collected from the revenues of the IMM; the vehicles will be provided by the IMM and operated by the IMM.
