It is no secret Turkey has taken some substantial steps in tourism in the last decade in particular. Although these efforts were interrupted by the failed coup attempt in 2016 and downed aircraft conflict with Russia mainly, Turkey’s economy recovered last year to the extent of breaking an all-time record in growth figures.
To parallel this positive development the country has started to enjoy promising performance figures in tourism as well. In fact foreign press has also realized the attack Turkey has made as put forward in an article in Financial Times, published in UK.
It was stated in Financial Times that Turkish tourism sector which suffered a decline after some terror attacks and attempted coup in Turkey in 2016, enjoyed a revival again and that 2018 would be the year of Turkey in tourism.
The Newspaper also informed that western tourists still focused on Spain have not started coming to Turkey yet and Russians and visitors from Middle East have been closing this gap, recently.

Turkey, had celebrated a record of hosting 36 million tourists in 2014. In 2016, this figure dropped to the lowest figure of the last 10 years which was 25 million. However, most recent data from 2017 shows that this figure has now reached 32 million. Tourists seem to forget quickly. The revival took place after the threat of terrorism was diminished.
A screening of the Ministry of Tourism's data shows that something has changed obviously. Russian tourists on the way back, Turkey, the Western European tourists who leave if they did not come yet for routes such as Spain.
The interesting and promising part of the report is that data provided by Ministry of Tourism shows that while Russian tourists are already back, tourists from Western Europe who left Turkey for Spain have not yet returned. This means when European tourists start coming back to Turkey in 2018, this country might enjoy breaking another record in tourism with a figure to surpass 36 million visitors annually.
