Antalya city, known as the Turkish Riviera attracts millions of tourists from foreign countries every year. In other words, it has been the rising star of the world tourism for quite a while now. To match its reputation in this direction, the city hosts many events each and every year thanks to the efforts of the Metropolitan Municipality, currently headed by Mr. Menderes TUREL.
The Municipality of Antalya took an important step on Tuesday and arranged to become “sister cities” with Miami city of the USA. On said date, Menderes Türel, mayor of Antalya and Tomas Regalado, mayor of Miami signed a sister city agreement which parties hope will contribute to both towns.
The signing ceremony was held at the Miami Municipal Building and enjoyed presence of representatives from the Turkish and American communities who attended the gathering, including Mr. Ozgur Altan, the Consul General of Turkey in Miami.
After signing of the protocol, the mayors exchanged gifts, congratulated each other and delivered speeches expressing they were happy to have concluded said agreement.
To remind once again, Antalya is now one of the biggest tourist destinations in the world as well as the USA and has been referred to as "tourism capital" of Turkey for several years now. Thus this event could certainly be evaluated as a means of strengthening trade, tourism, education and cultural ties between the two cities. On the other hand, Miami is known to be most the favourite place among wealthy Turkish people who would like to buy houses in the US.
