Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the testing and commissioning works on the Bakırköy-Kirazlı Metro Line have reached the final stages, saying, "We will experience the joy of adding a new metro line to Istanbul by putting our project into service in a very short time."
Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu provided information about the works on the Bakırköy-Kirazlı Metro Line in a written statement.
Uraloğlu stated that the line was 8.4 kilometers long and consisted of 7 stations, adding that the metro would travel at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour and carry 1 million passengers per day.
Uraloğlu noted that the construction work had ended and that the line would be opened soon.
Emphasizing that they had carried out meticulous work in one of Istanbul's most densely populated areas and under difficult ground conditions, Uraloğlu stated, "We have completed a total of 16.9 kilometres of tunnel excavation, including 13.3 kilometres of TBM manufacturing and 3.6 kilometres of a classic tunnelling method, as well as a total of 17 kilometres of railway track assembly, and completed the construction of 105,000 square meters of the closed area at 7 stations within this scope."
He stated that it would amount to a total of 6.1 billion dollars, including 3.6 billion dollars.
